Labyrinths are a fascinating and very effective way of developing attention, assiduity, and small motility. What labyrinths can be given to children of different ages?
Labyrinths for children of three years old or younger should have paths with borders where a child needs to draw a line, without touching the edges. To make an interesting lesson, prepare tasks with game elements where it is possible to also use sound effects. For example, when leading the mouse between the hedgehogs, you can make the noise «squeak-squeak». It will be cheerful!
Offer more difficult tasks in labyrinths for children who are four years old. At this point, children can already guide without touching the borders, understand what paths lead to dead-ends, etc. Teach your kid not only to move a felt-tip pen or a pencil on labyrinth paths, but also to trace the path with their eyes. At age four, it is possible draw a line down the center of a path without strong wavy bends.
Labyrinths for children of 5-6 years can have small paths and a large number of dead ends. It is important to ensure the width of paths isn’t too narrow so as not to overstrain the eyes. When offering a labyrinth, you can ask a child to not only to find a solution, but also to compare the trajectory of the correct way to an exit with other drawn trajectories. You can see an example of such a task in IQsha's task shown above.
Developing the attention of children by means of labyrinths will make an excellent contribution to the formation of assiduity and writing skills. Good luck!
